What are pigs? Ohh..kinda cute isn’t it? But no..not  this one. Definitely we don’t count on this one to clean the pipeline…

We use these..

foams, bi-di, etc..

There are so many of them. The selections of the pig type depend on the job that needs to be done.

Basically the name pig (pipeline inspection gauge) refer to the mechanical device that can be inserted into a pipeline, which is then used to carry out a pre-defined tasks:

• a) Cleaning
• b) To determine physical properties of the pipeline
• c) De-commisioning
• d) Construction

A pig has driving cups which have a greater diameter than the internal diameter of the pipeline thus forming an effective seal between the pig and the pipeline inner circumference.

What drives the pig?

The minimum differential pressure needed to push the pig is 0.5 bar.

• a) Product flow
• b) Compress gasses (nitrogen or air)-Use in gas line
• c) Auxiliary pumping-Treated sea water (biocide 20%,   corrosion inhibitor 70%, oxygen seavenger 10%)
• d) Self propulsion-This pig is a self driven using power source. There are two types of self propulsion pig, using wheels and brushes.
